Ten Years On. Even after all this time, that New York Times frontpage on the day still seems unreal. No doubt, the defining event of the start of the 21st century.
Not Many Cities. Kiwi rapper Scribe and his remake of Not Many, his double platinum record, recast as a tribute to Christchurch. I was down in Christchurch at the start of last month, and the scale of the damage was still unbelievable, even though it’s now a year since the first earthquake. Great tune, great video.
A Boy, a Bicycle, and a Tree. The story of this picture apparently goes… a boy left his bike chained to a tree when he went away to war in 1914. He never returned, leaving the tree no choice but to grow around the bike. Not sure the truth of this one, but what a great example of Mother Nature prevailing despite mankind’s unintentioned efforts to the contrary.
