Enceladus / Water Ice Plumes
At least four distinct plumes of water ice spew out from the south polar region of Saturn’s moon Enceladus. Light reflected off Saturn is illuminating the surface of the moon while the sun, almost directly behind Enceladus, is backlighting the plumes. The image was taken in visible light with the Cassini spacecraft narrow-angle camera on Dec. 25, 2009.

Christchurch Earthquake damage. Here in New Zealand, we are all still getting our heads around the images from the weekend’s 7.1 magnitude earthquake in Christchurch. This sobering photo captures the scale of the damage perfectly. (via Flickr).
The Right Stuff. NASA have just released a nice set of historic images on Flickr. This is a great shot of John Glenn leaving the crew quarters prior to the Mercury mission which made him the first American to orbit the earth, in February 1962.
UNKLE - The Answer. Did I ever mention that I am a huge UNKLE fan? Check out their latest video directed by John Hillcoat (The Road) and featuring Ray Winstone (Sexy Beast). Yes, James Lavelle, you never fail to deliver. A.W.E.S.O.M.E.
Otis Frizzell - Hero Tiki. Otis, and his father Dick Frizzell, were one of the highlights for me at this year’s Semi-Permanent. I loved this stencil in particular. Very cool.
Kanye West - Power. Got pointed to this one today, complete with huuuuuge necklace on Kanye. Excellent.
Everything new today will be old tomorrow. Loving this campaign of vintage ads for social media sites. (via brand dna).
There are moments that I’ve had some real brilliance, you know.
But I think they are moments.
And sometimes, in a career, moments are enough.
I never felt I played the great part.
I never felt that I directed the great movie.
And I can’t say that it’s anybody’s fault but my own.
The Beach. Great print by Paul Octavious, and the perfect antidote to a miserable winter’s day here in Auckland. (via Kitsune Noir)
