On the way back from the Red Bull Trolley Grand Prix, we stopped at the Symonds St cemetery. What an amazing piece of Auckland history, hidden away by Grafton bridge and the Southern motorway. Urban decay at its overgrown, neglected finest.
NY Subway Car Reefs. Great series of images showing the New York Metropolitan Transport Authority’s artifical reef program (yes, they have one!), using old subway cars. And here I was just thinking they were using the ocean as a junkyard!
Solar Plasma. Another photo of the solar surface from Alan Friedman. Incredible detail.
Night Lights. Another great shot from the ISS, shot by astronaut Doug Wheelock, showing the Aurora Borealis in the distance on this beautiful night over Europe. Wow. (via @johnstanfordnz)
